With years of manufacturing and engineering experience, BCI Engineering’s Full Tilt fixed tilt systems feature fewer parts, common module loading and mounting methods, and direct manufacturer pricing. All Full Tilt components are pre-galvanized, profiled and bolted.

Installation: The pre-galvanized rolled profiles are lightweight and can be operated by two installers. The rafters have a pivot point close to the center of gravity, which allows the structure to be set up and the modules to be loaded in a horizontal position. Hammer the pile with a pile driver, preferably a vibrating hammer. The balance of the system can be manually set by a team of 2-4 people using simple hand tools, battery-powered tools allow for faster assembly. With proper layout and proper component placement, a 20-module table can be fully assembled in less than one man-hour.

Pros: Full Tilt systems have many cost and labor saving features, and installers typically use Longhorn panel guides to ensure modules are perfectly aligned for quick fixing. Assemblers do not have to spend time setting up modules, alignment is done automatically. Another great advantage of the Full Tilt system is that it is designed to be installed in a horizontal position. This means that all components can be assembled at a safe working height without the need for ladders or workers climbing onto the structure. Once the structure is assembled and the panels secured, the entire structure can be easily and safely rotated into its final position.

Gripple, a manufacturer of time-saving products for the residential and seismic markets, entered the solar energy market in 2021 with several proven solutions to protect new and existing ground-based solar arrays. All components are designed for outdoor use with a life expectancy of over 30 years in the harshest environments. Gripple Solar Struts can be easily retrofitted to any existing system for any repairs caused by external forces such as leveling deformed columns or preventing table tilt and structure tilt.

Gripple introduces the CR-System range, which includes lightweight ground cabling equipment capable of holding 1,170 6mm2 cables, stackable for increased throughput. Manufactured from UV-resistant, corrosion-resistant polycarbonate, outdoor locations can help reduce and reduce the CSA of cables used during the design phase, further saving project costs compared to conventional trenching.

Gripple engineers have developed a lightweight solar frame pole kit with structural performance comparable to heavy traditional steel poles, but at a significantly lower cost. By replacing heavy steel cross sections with strong yet lightweight steel cable supports, you can significantly reduce material, transport and logistics costs, as well as CO2 emissions. In addition, Gripple staple kits are quick and easy to install using only hand tools and come in small boxes, making it easier to work with materials on site compared to steel and mechanical machines.

Materials: All components are built for outdoor use with an expected lifespan of over 30 years in the harshest environments. The Gripple steel cable is coated with a corrosion resistant aluminium-zinc coating and can be integrated as part of the frame with special thermal immersion brackets or wrapped around existing attachment points. The internal clamping mechanism consists of sintered ceramic rollers providing greater strength than other tension-only support systems with load ratings up to 3860 lbs.

Installation: A double-sided locking device called the PV Dynamic Tensioner allows fast and easy installation of supports between two piles. Pre-tensioned with a quick and unique tensioning tool, the PV Mounting Kit provides frame rigidity while eliminating misalignment that can result from external forces and environmental loads. A quick and easy, ready-to-use kit can greatly improve on-site health and safety.

Key Features: Kits are very long, allowing for greater flexibility in frame mounting tolerances and supporting a greater variety of mounting systems. For ease of installation, the dynamic tensioner assembly is removable, allowing the product to be adjusted prior to tensioning.

Gripple offers a range of lightweight solar anchor kits that can be attached to solar frame frames to increase resistance to external loads. They are ideal for supporting existing piles when ground conditions require additional anchoring, and for re-leveling and repairing when the frame placed on the ground may be dislodged.

INSTALLATION: Gripple anchors are quickly and easily driven into the ground using only hand tools. The innovative installation and “flipping” of the PV anchor allows access to the engineering properties of the soil with minimal intervention. The PV anchors are then activated by tensioning the wires around the PV mounts with the Gripple Dynamic Tensioner, a system that still provides better lift protection, albeit using much less material.

Ultra-fast to install, Gripple Above Ground Cable Management Systems are designed to extend the life of your facility and protect your cables from wear and tear. Gripple’s Messenger kits are the fastest and easiest to install on the market thanks to the dynamic connector/line tensioner. In addition, Gripple offers a messenger mount and a range of cable-loading side-loading hangers for easy setup and use. Gripple hangers are specially designed to protect cables and have a large surface area to prevent pinching and abrasion. The snap-in mechanism that attaches the hanger to the hanging wire also prevents movement, ensuring hangers and loads stay evenly spaced over time.

Materials: All materials are designed to last more than 30 years and are tested at -40 to +90 degrees Celsius. The hangers are made of UV-resistant polycarbonate and the hanging cables are made of corrosion-resistant zinc-aluminum alloy.

Installation: Installation is quick and easy, requiring only hand tools and minimal training. The first contractor installs the Messenger kit, which can be attached to the end posts using lugs or to the intermediate mounting frame using Messenger brackets. The Messenger Kit uses a dynamic Gripple tensioner for quick tensioning, making the system much faster than traditional turnbuckles. Once the Messenger kit is secured, contractors can periodically attach hooks along the sling. The hanger has lockable side loading doors for easy cable loading and unloading, as well as easy service and maintenance access.

Mechatron Solar of Stockton, California is an international developer of commercial and industrial solar projects producing unique, patented, dual-axis photovoltaic trackers, each supporting 90 solar panels. The company’s exceptionally large trackers feature the industry’s highest energy density and smallest footprint. Mechatron solar trackers include gearless azimuth trackers and gearless dual axis trackers designed to provide maximum performance at lower operating and maintenance costs than other commercially available tracking systems. They have been successfully tested in various climates and the tariff structure represents the best available solution for photovoltaic installations.

This year, Mechatron was certified to UL 3703 and the financial viability analysis is nearing completion. The flagship tracker also features a new digital guidance system and a new optional eight-column design to accommodate large modules. The new M16KD agricultural model features additional spacing between vertical stacks of panels to allow more light to reach the crops below the tracker, as well as a new reflector option on the table support for improved double-sided performance. The new M10KD residential model has a reduced table size to support 49 panels to fit in tight spaces.

Columns per row: one reinforced concrete column or driven steel pile Row length: nine horizontal rows, 10 modules per row, platform height 15 ft. Certification: UL 3703

Design: how it works and how it works: The unique, patented MK18D features a gearless mechanism that eliminates the shear wear found on standard gear-driven tracks. A ball bearing ring mechanism rotates the massive 90-panel platform around the azimuthal axis with extreme precision, zero backlash and dual hydraulic brake design. 3 hydraulic azimuth drives, 1 hydraulic elevation drive; they use standard 277/480V 1.5AY single-phase three-phase motors or 120/240V 3A single-phase motors. These actuators provide a range of motion of 360 degrees on the azimuth axis with 1 degree accuracy and a range of motion of 0-60 degrees along the zenith axis with 1 degree accuracy. The tracker is designed for automatic laying.

Pros: As mentioned above, the MK18D has a gearless azimuth drive ring, hydraulic dual drag, zero backlash, and self-loading. With superior solar tracking, energy output is 50% higher than fixed tilt ground mounts and 20% higher than single axis trackers, with all three designs using the same number and type of modules. Double-sided panels provide a 13% energy boost, several percentage points higher than single-axis and much higher than fixed-tilt designs, thanks to 15-foot-tall panels that capture more diffuse and direct reflections than competitive light.
